Notebooks & Buttons.

Hello my lovelies. Its 2019 and we are defo making progress through this new year. I’ve even made some new products to. Both of these where projects I had been wanting to do for a while and finally decided to give them a go. The final product is something I’m very proud of and will be doing more of.

Check out https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheNysnoRose for all my products and enjoy a 50% off sale.

So lets get cracking with these new items. The first one is something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s so simple but I over complicted it. Making it out that it was harder than it actually was.

Moon and Sun blank notebooks.

These are great A5 sized blank notebooks. And my first of hopefully many more to come along. Both hand drawn with a white gelly roll pen and hand sewn for binding. I drew these designs a while back and had wanted to do something with them as they where spur of the moment kind of ideas.

The longest part of these 2 was the drawing part. I was worried that they wouldn’t look the way I wanted them too. However they turned out really well. The sewing part was the hardest. Gave myself a good one as I tried to push the needle through the pages. (Note to self, if larger than 17 sheets think gonna be a nightmare!) Please note that these are not in the sale.

Button Heart on Canvas

My heart will go on with this one. This lovely piece is my newest piece prefect for valentine’s day. It will eventually go on the shop but for now will be used to show size and shape for commission pieces. If you would like one please message me through my shop’s facebook page here:  https://www.facebook.com/TheNysnoRose with colour prefernce.

Now back onto the piece itself. I like buttons, I have ALOT of buttons. Maybe an unhealthy amount of buttons but hay I’m a crafter. Stuff like that happens. I had a few blank canvases lying around, also finally got my hands on a hot glue gun. I planned out the position of each piece first and the stuck em into place. I learned very quickly that was a silly idea as the buttons moved around alot. Plus I have sure serious blisters now on my right hand. My poor finger tips! 😓

Hope you guys love these pieces just as much as I do. What would you like to see next?

Until next time my lovelies. Xx

Recycling and Bookmarks.

Good morning my lovelies. What a crazy last few days its been! Hope your all doing really well in this colder weather.

People know I love things like beads. All kinds! Little glass pearls to beautiful jeweled ones. And buttons. Vintage buttons and fabric too! While I love all these little things they can get messy, and go everywhere and I can forget which colours I actually have. So I’m going to give new life to some glass jars that where lying around my house.

My glass containers for my beads.

These little glass jars where once upon a time a lovely choco dessert. Recycling something like this is easy. Got an old sauce jar being used to hold all my paintbrushes. Now they’ve been cleaned and waiting for their new home in my craft room where they will be used to help with all my beads.

Now talking about beads, I’ve been creating some new pieces for my shop. Some of these have even been custom made with the help of my beads.

My custom made bookmarks

Ain’t it pretty. I’m hoping to develop on this design too create even more of these lovely bookmarks for the new year. And maybe get a few cheeky custom orders too! ☺

My bead collection have actually helped inspire my recent makes and I hope to make more in the near future. I love all the different shades of green here.

Do you like reading? What is your favourite book and bookmark?

Until next time my lovelies. Xx

Settled In and Ready To Go!

Foggy and lush outside our house.

Hello my lovelies. Well I can finally say I’m settled into my new house!! Just in time for the winter season too……perfect. During the last few weeks things have been crazy, from trying to sort the house, family and finally passing my driving test! (I can now drive legally, woop) Its been one crazy little roller coaster. But the wait is over and we are finally in our home. I honestly feel like I’m dreaming!

We have most of the larger stuff sorted and now just need to get all the little nic’s & nac’s that make a house a home. I’m so excited however this crazy gal is just happy to be in her own home. No more living in boxes and all the crazy stress of not being able to do certain things.

Things have been quiet on the shop front which is absolutely fine as I wanted to mainly focus on getting my home sorted. Plus with everything that has been going on I’ve not been as focused there as I should be. However keep your eyes peeled for the new year. I’ve got some surprises coming soon for you all.

A little shop update: things are looking good over there. I’ve got loads of new goodies ready for the new year and to top it all off I have my own little studio/office space! It still needs alot work done to it but its defo on the way there and I can not wait to share it with you guys. Personally I can not wait to get in there and get it set up…..only problem is the style of how I want it. I’ve never had a crafting room before so this is new and a little overwhelming.

With this little update I hope to hear from you all soon.

What has you guys excited and nervous?

Until next my lovelies. Xx

Art Supply Haul! (Small One!)

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing today. The weather where I’m at doesn’t know if it wants to be sunny, rain or snow. That is British weather for ya.

Welcome to a small ish art supply art. (I shoulda got those water brush pens!!) So might as well jump in with what I’m excited to use the most.

Winsor & Newton Ink Collection

I’m rather new to using Ink in my art works and had used it once or twice during the Inktober season for 2017. The inks are from Winsor & Newton a brand that I do love using. The water colour and acrylic paints they do are amazing. I’ll be taking part again this year too. I got these from Whsmith and nabbed the colours Purple, Orange and Gold. (The Gold was almost sold out!!) I love the cute little bottles they are in and still trying to decide how to use them. May use the gold for details and will defo be grabbing the white ink next time.

These are gonna be used for my wisp series that I’m slowly working on. Also going to be expertimenting with them to build up an understanding of them so I know how to get the best out of them. Can’t wait to build up more of a collection of these little cuties. They are just to adorable.

More supplies. Pens and Paint brushes.

The brushes are from Winsor & Newton with the cold blue handles. Love this colour combo. But I had actually got this brush set to use with my inks. Love that they are all small in size so great for little detail pieces or giving that little extra. Shall see how that goes and keep you all updated. The 4 piece pen set is by Faber Castell. A brand I haven’t really used before. But intend to try them out. Plan on using them for out lining work and creating more depth in some pieces to. One thing I wish I got was the water brush pens that I saw. They where on sale and I shoulda grabbed them while there. Been wanting to play with them for ages and didn’t bother getting them. They are on my list of supplies to get next time.

I got this haul from Whsmith in the Bluewater Shopping Centre. That place is insanely large. Not a fan of the sheer scale of the place. Mainly due to the amount of people but glad we got there very early.

Have you guys got any art supplies I should get next? Please do recommend them. Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

Life Lessons I’ve Learned Since Taking The Rose Coloured Glasses Off.

Okay. Time for a deep (ish) blog post. Life lessons and the one’s I learned the hard way. Or simply noticed as I got older and less inclined to listen to bullshit. Let me know which ones you knew or ones I may not mention in the comments. Its always good to learn more.

1. People and success. The mass majority of people in your life really don’t want you to succeed at all. They want you to do well but not better than them. And thats a scary thing to accept. It hit me when my mum would smug over the fact that I didn’t get tbe job I wanted or when I went through my times of unemployment.

2. The only person you can actually count on is yourself in this world. Too many people will expect something or some form of payment in return if they help you. And some peoplejust can not be counted on in the least.

3. Your gonna lose some people. Whether that’s cause people have moved away, grown apart or a little fight that has grown ugly. Sometimes it’s a good thing to leave people behind and others your gonna miss like crazy. But unfortunalety it happens. If you have people you want to keep in your life then keep them there.

4. The world will try to make you feel ashamed of your beliefs. Stick to your guns and you beliefs. Don’t let anyone change you or tell you how to act. We are all awesome and should be allowed to feel awesome.

5. Being an adult can suck. Like seriously can I go back to being a kid please? Try and keep those childish hobbies alive. You like pokemon?? Fantastic so do I. You like collecting stamps. That’s awesome. What about that secert love for dinosaurs? Don’t be afraid of sharing your passions and hobbies with others.

6. Last but not least. Learn how to love yourself. It will be the greatest thing you will ever do. I’m perfect for me and only me. I love my flaws and scars. My history aint pretty but it has made me how I am. I’ll be honest with you I used to hate myself. But now I love myself and who I am, from my tattooed ankles all the way to my button nose.

Really enjoyed writing this little ranty like post. Do you agree with any of these? Have you got any that you would like to share, let folk know in the comments.

Until next time my lovelies.

Plans and Building in 2018!

Hello my lovelies. How are you all? 2018 is just round the corner and I thought this would once again be a great time to share some plans that I hope to get on the ball in 2018.

PERSONAL

Languages. I’ve always wanted to learn a new language for such a long time and in 2018 I’m so determined to do just that. My place of work has so many languages going on and I love the sound of all of them!!

Swimming. Ross and I plan on going swimming 3 times a week to help with our health. He wants to get healthier and so do I. My breathing has been a damn nightmare and needs sorting. We also plan on being better with our food too!!

Planning, goal setting and journaling. These are personal little goals that I need to work on and keep them going strong. I’ve loved goal setting so far this year. I just need to get my head round the journaling thing. (Everyone else’s journals are so pretty and detailed. Mine is just super plain and boring.)

SHOP

My cute little shop will be worked on a great deal in 2018. I’ve wanted this for years and now that I have it I intend on making it work. Many new ideas are in the works, with some super cuties in development. (Keep an eye on my insta for sneak peaks!) Buisiness cards will be created too and if things go well, a whole website may be in the works. I don’t want to give too much away yet but all I can say is too much cuteness!!

SOCIAL

My plan on being more active on social medias for 2018, this way I can help provide a brilliant level of customer service and people can ask questions. A social media page will be made for the shop too. I’m getting excited that’s for sure!!

Youtube. That was going well but with the lack of a decent camera and editing tools it will take a while to do well. But I don’t plan on giving up on it!!

My blog is going strong and I defo plan on keeping this going. Some updates are needed and maybe a revamp too. Lets see what happens.

So far 2018 looks like it is going to be an amazing year, with saving for a house and hoping to drive next year it looks like an adventure. And I can not wait to see how things turn out. And I hope that you, my lovely readers will continue to support my blog well into 2018.

What are your plans for next year??

Until next time my lovelies. Xx

Patchwork Animal Plushies

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing on this rather wet looking day? I’ve been great, from working alot on nightshift and making time for crafty adventures.

I really want to show you 2 of my latest pieces I’ve recently made. So here they are, my patchwork animals:

My Patchwork Piggy

This one turned out really well! The felt is from the Dovecraft Essentials in pink. You can you colour theme packs from the Works for £2!! I got loads of different colours. The fabric was from a subrciption box that I used to get. I’m so happy with how this turned out although it got rather annoying with the measurements and then the stuffing part. I didn’t want to over stuff this little one. I love the nose and my blanket stiches here.

My Patchwork Robin

This little guy is a little wonky. I had wanted him to be more circle in shape but it’s either the way I’ve sewn him or stuffed him. The beak is also my first attempt at statin stich on felt!!! While not perfect it went really well. I think I’ll stick to the size of my piggy though as it seems more reasonable in size. But I’m still proud of how the robin turned out.

I have loads more ideas for the Patchwork Animals so keep an eye on the shop. May even make some cute fruit and other bits too. Super enjoying the sewing time and the creative side. Also nice to see some of my fabrics getting used!!

Any advice or recommendations are highly welcome for getting better.

Until next time folks. Xx

Sketchbook Tour.

Hello everyone. This little post is gonna be a tour of some of my most recent drawings and doodles. Hope you enjoy.

Red mushrooms.
These little mushrooms have been done with a pencil outline and filled in with my Touch marker pens. A little autumn inspo for inktober. (Which I’m failing at, but hay I’m working again!!) These little mushrooms are just too cute and I needed the push to get me back in my sketchbook.

The moon.
This little moon piece turned out really well. All drawn in black pen (which I rarely do!!) And I really enjoyed the process. It was fun and something that I need to do more of. One of my favourite pieces.

Piggies.

These where a prompt for my personal challenge. Pigs. Very awkward to draw but the one at the bottom is the best. Lol. These are drawn in one of my smaller sketchbooks that sometimes comes out with me. Drawing in pen isn’t easy but again something that I aim to be more confident in.

Yellow mushrooms.

Again with the mushrooms. Glad I found some inspiration though. I used a reference for these and the red ones from google. Used a pencil outline and tried the Touch markers again. You can see the bleeding from the ink. But despite that I do love this one. Its not something I usually draw, but simple and adorable. Yip, just called a mushroom adorable.

Eggs. Dragon? Not sure.
Done these in my good old friend, coloured pencil. The blue one was more of a challenge for the shading and range of tones. But did a good job over all. These two are more than likely going to be re-drawned at a later stage.

What do you guys think? Are you involved with inktober?

Until next time my lovelies.

A sewing project. The lip plushie.

Hello my lovelies. How are you all on this beautiful sunny afternoon?? I’m still trying to sort out our internet and help the boys settle in. More on them in another post!!

A few days ago I was rather bored and stuck on what to do. So I started making some of my plushies again. A little differnet than the heart shaped ones that I normally do.

The Blue one is my favourite so far!!

My lip plushies!! A friend had asked me to make her some as giveaway prizes for her buisness and I thought it would be a great idea to be productive with my time. And build up on my skill in hand sewing.  I spent yesterday brain storming some ideas and cutting out what patterns I wanted and what colours I would need. Just a little smaller than an A6 piece of paper.

Today will be a sewing day and adding all the final details. All the hand sewing…….welcome cramped hands.

Leaf inspired lip art plushie

A square here, a square there.

Making these little cuties (i’ve got 10 so far that will go too my friend) have been a test of my patience and creativity. It was enjoyable too sit down and actually work on something that I could see taking shape. A very valuable lession. I’ve made a few mistakes……..like ripping my stencil, under sizing the pink inside and tangling my threads together.

Under sized the pink section in this dotted lip art plushie.
I’ve enjoyed playing with all the colours, thinking up patterns and ideas, using my resource’s, and learning something new along the way. Even got plans to add some other fabrics into the mix, rhinestones, beads and buttons. But may not do that with these ones just yet. So far she has liked them. Fingers crossed her customers do to.

Have you guys got any projects on the go? If so, what are they??

Until next time folks.

Life with NO Internet

Well it happened. It finally happened. Knew it was coming but gutted that it’s so soon. What you may ask? My data ran out and I have no internet in the flat yet. So I’m currently sat in the local library mooching off their free wifi.

The last few days has kinda made me realise just how much I depend on the internet. Finding local places, youtube, twitter, instagram etc. Never really noticed how big a part they played in my life until they where actually gone. How often I reach for my phone to check twitter for the latest gossip or info on whats happening in the world. Or scrolling through instagram and wishing I was on a white beach somewhere.

Can’t complain to much though. My flat is spotless, and sorted. Clothes orginised as much as possible. Boxes have become a makeshift wardrobe. 😄 I’ve read some books I forgot I had and now half way through a sketchbook!!! Even got a night time routine going on for relaxing. It just goes to show how much of a distraction the internet is. But I do miss it for music playing in the background or finding something out.

I’m now a regular at the local library, staff have been lovely and really helpful too. Got even more books out and plan on reading them later on.

But I gotta go, library is joined to the school and my peace has been shattered by excited children. Heart warming to see really.

Anyway until next time.
