Art Supply Haul! (Small One!)

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing today. The weather where I’m at doesn’t know if it wants to be sunny, rain or snow. That is British weather for ya.

Welcome to a small ish art supply art. (I shoulda got those water brush pens!!) So might as well jump in with what I’m excited to use the most.

Winsor & Newton Ink Collection

I’m rather new to using Ink in my art works and had used it once or twice during the Inktober season for 2017. The inks are from Winsor & Newton a brand that I do love using. The water colour and acrylic paints they do are amazing. I’ll be taking part again this year too. I got these from Whsmith and nabbed the colours Purple, Orange and Gold. (The Gold was almost sold out!!) I love the cute little bottles they are in and still trying to decide how to use them. May use the gold for details and will defo be grabbing the white ink next time.

These are gonna be used for my wisp series that I’m slowly working on. Also going to be expertimenting with them to build up an understanding of them so I know how to get the best out of them. Can’t wait to build up more of a collection of these little cuties. They are just to adorable.

More supplies. Pens and Paint brushes.

The brushes are from Winsor & Newton with the cold blue handles. Love this colour combo. But I had actually got this brush set to use with my inks. Love that they are all small in size so great for little detail pieces or giving that little extra. Shall see how that goes and keep you all updated. The 4 piece pen set is by Faber Castell. A brand I haven’t really used before. But intend to try them out. Plan on using them for out lining work and creating more depth in some pieces to. One thing I wish I got was the water brush pens that I saw. They where on sale and I shoulda grabbed them while there. Been wanting to play with them for ages and didn’t bother getting them. They are on my list of supplies to get next time.

I got this haul from Whsmith in the Bluewater Shopping Centre. That place is insanely large. Not a fan of the sheer scale of the place. Mainly due to the amount of people but glad we got there very early.

Have you guys got any art supplies I should get next? Please do recommend them. Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

Coloured Pencil Review and Green Heart Sketch.

Hello folks. It’s been a while since I did my last art tool review, so here is another one for ya. Hopefully this review will be useful to other artists, parents or beginners in the coloured pencil media.

Green Heart in coloured pencil.
Green Heart in coloured pencil.

This piece took a little longer than I had hoped but it was a great chance to play around with all my pencils. I used all of my green pencils in this one piece alone. (I haven’t got any new ones recently.) Doing this heart piece was a fab way of falling back in love with some and re-learning why I hated others. So lets get into the 3 brands that I used for this piece.

The Spectrum Sings Whsmith pencils

These are by far the oldest set of pencils that I own. Loved so much that I was given my sister’s set cause she no longer used them. They come in a pack of 48 and are avaible from Whsmith stores and their website at £9.99. A great little bargin and really good quality too. Building colour up with these is easy as is blending them together. I’ve had these since I was a highschooler and a set that I do go back to all the time. They give rich, bold colours when needed and are durable.

The Sudee Stile Pencils

Hmmm. The newest pencils I own and probally the only pencils I have some jip with. (Jip means issues just incase folk where confused!) I got the 120 set from amazon. But they no longer sell that set and now do either a 150 set at £46.99 or a 72 piece set at £19.99. Now that I have price out the way lets talk about them more in depth. Some of these colours are stunning. The blue green is gorgeous as is some of the reds, blues, and other shades. My main complaint about these pencils is that they don’t seem to have mixed all the colour in some of the pencils completely. I find it happens more in the lighter shades and I’ll get a huge line of a darker shade bleeding through. Which is annoying. Very annoying. But they do blend well together and work well with my other pencils. Plus the set has some colours that I don’t actually have in my others so that is a plus side.

The Staedtler Ergo Soft Pencils

I love these pencils. I’m gutted that I don’t have a bigger set of these beauties. I currently own the 24 set which I got from Whsmith at £15. (I think, I got these a few years ago and try not to use them for simple pieces.) If you know of a larger set please let me know!!! These are exactly what they say they are…..soft. I love using these for softer tones or when I need a gentler touch of colour. They are in a triangle shape which I find to be comfortable to handle but awkward to sharpen. Durable and the best quality of pencil that I own. They really are amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this post beauts.

Until next time my lovelies.
