The Stress of Living In Boxes.

Hello my lovelies. I’m gonna be honest with you now. I am very stressed out. You guys see, the partner and I have moved. 450 miles to be exact, but this time we are living in boxes. We are now living in someone else’s home and it’s very stressful. I’m glad they offered a place for us to stay (it’s my old place, the brother in law now stays there) but it’s not home anymore.

While staying here I’ve come to miss the little things we took for granted. Like cooking meals whenever we wanted. (The cooking part aint a topic I wanna go into!) Curling up on the couch to watch a cheesy movie with a bowl of crisps. Trying to stay calm and rage quitting while I die again in monster hunter. (I keep dying at one part and can not get past it!!) Being lazy after work and we both crash on the couch. The whole walking around in just a t-shirt after I get up. Having my craft stuff all over the sitting room table as I pondered what to make. And most importantly the space……how I miss my own space!!

Right now we are living in boxes with very little space. I don’t want to intrude on my brother in laws space with my crafts. I can’t even paint at the moment which is stressing me out! I’ve been hiding at my sister’s flat and even that is pushing the line. She is looking after my chinchillas for me so I go there often for them. God I miss seeing their cute, fluffy little faces every morning.

However there is a good side to this annoyance. We have been looking at some house’s and we may have finally found one. Monday will be the day we find out if they have accepted our offer and I honestly hope they have. I can’t wait to make more things and cook in my own kitchen. (More like watch Rossco cook cause he is the chef in our relantionship) We have both come to realise how much the little things matter.

Also before I leave you all with this ranty post, have a look at my shop’s etsy page http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/TheNysnoRose

I make custom orders and simple orders to and have made some space for these. If you don’t want to order but think someone else will then please share my page with friends, family and follow me on instagram.

Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

Tea, Chainmail bracelets and a catch up.

Hello my lovelies. Long time no blog post. I could give you all the excuses under the sun but I know thats not fair on you. I fell outta love with my blog. Simple as that. But I want to re-connect with this part of my creative life so here goes nothing. Welcome to a little catch up on whats happening.

Tea and my new project

This pretty much sums up what I’ve been up to. Appart from working in my main night job, the last few days have been dedicated to working on my shop. And the new project I’m working on. I’ve been making loads of bookmarks to order and other things like beaded bracelets.

We are currently in limbo at the moment. We’re meant to be moving back to scotland but our work is taking their sweet time in letting us know of a moving date. I’m getting to the point where I just want to tell them to shove it where the sun don’t shine. Its very annoying but this has inspired me to get more creative and get more done for the shop.

Some of my chainmail bracelets.
My latest chainmail bracelet

These are my newest projects. The chainmail bracelets are an instant favourite of mine. I’ve made them using the byzantine link formation which is a lovely, classic look. They have helped me stay calm and a great little destresser. I got these links from Panda Hall beads. I actually get a huge amount of stuff from them. Theyre amazing! 😍 Although they do take ages to make. I love making them. Don’t worry, these will defo be going up on tbe shop sometime this week.

I have got loads of plans for the shop but at the moment they can’t happen till we move. Fingers crossed it is sometime this month.

Until next time my lovelies. Xx

Hello Again and Cute Keychains.

Hello my lovelies. It’s been a while hasn’t it. Well to put it the short way I fell outta love with blogging but I have some new ideas and a makeover planned!! Can not wait to share all of this with you, it’s gonna be very exciting!

But lets forget all the sappy stuff and dive into the cute crafty stuff. I’ve been rather busy with my shop and wanted to share some of the items thats there with you guys. A little behind the scenes tour if you will. You can visit my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SeasonalRoseShop to have a sneak peak at what I have. If you want to see more of something let me know, everything is handmade.

My leaf wisp and psychic wisp.

I made some keyrings! Plus other things with these little cuties and if you follow me on instagram you will see them. These little cuties are made from scupley clay which I got from Amazon. I had never used scupley before so it was a very good learning experience. The will-o-wisps or wisps for short are an original idea of mine and I do hope to make more of them come too life.

Scupley clay wisps getting painted.

I had to mould these little ones into shape, which gave my hands a crazy workout. They where so damn sore afterwards. I then baked them and left them over night to cool. (Silly me didnt think they would take to long to paint!) These took a huge chunk of my day to paint, glaze and add the blush details. I used an eyeshadow pallete for the pink cheeks and to give my acorn wisps a shiny top.

The water droplet wisp and acorn wisp.

Aren’t they so damn cute. I hope to make more of these and use them in other things eventually. I’m thinking bookmarks, mugs, fabrics, little sculptures, basically everthing really.

Well it was great talking to you all, cant wait to speak again.

But until then my lovelies bye.

Saving For The Future. (Mini Personal Achievement!)

Hello my lovelies. How have you guys been this crazy week? Its went by really fast for me. One day it was the end of the weekend, now it’s my weekend again. This is gonna be a some what chatty post today.

Welp lets jump right into it before I squeal with excitment. (Before I go any futher, Im not bragging in the slightest kay.) This year me and the other half made the agreement that we are going to save for our own house. We are currently renting and lets be honest, while the area is nice its not a place we want to be long term. Or if we plan on expanding our family.

So I have had problems with saving for years. (Money grabbing parents who where not ready for 3 extra mouths to feed and guilt tripped the cash outta us.) But I finally did something I wanted to do for ages. Since I was 18. Drum roll please…………

I FINALLY SAVED £1000!!!!!!

Eeek. After months of on/off work. Being worried sick and feeling completely useless I finally reached a milestone that I had wanted for just under 8 years. And it feels amazing. 😄

I may be a little tighter fisted with my cash now, and even questioning if I need things when I’m shopping or out and about. We are even home cooking meals for work which is amazing for the both of us. I’m just so happy and proud of myself. Very pleased to see that all the hard work that I’m putting in is finally amounting to something.

And I wanted to share this excitment with you guys.

Until next time my lovelies.

Art Supply Haul! (Small One!)

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing today. The weather where I’m at doesn’t know if it wants to be sunny, rain or snow. That is British weather for ya.

Welcome to a small ish art supply art. (I shoulda got those water brush pens!!) So might as well jump in with what I’m excited to use the most.

Winsor & Newton Ink Collection

I’m rather new to using Ink in my art works and had used it once or twice during the Inktober season for 2017. The inks are from Winsor & Newton a brand that I do love using. The water colour and acrylic paints they do are amazing. I’ll be taking part again this year too. I got these from Whsmith and nabbed the colours Purple, Orange and Gold. (The Gold was almost sold out!!) I love the cute little bottles they are in and still trying to decide how to use them. May use the gold for details and will defo be grabbing the white ink next time.

These are gonna be used for my wisp series that I’m slowly working on. Also going to be expertimenting with them to build up an understanding of them so I know how to get the best out of them. Can’t wait to build up more of a collection of these little cuties. They are just to adorable.

More supplies. Pens and Paint brushes.

The brushes are from Winsor & Newton with the cold blue handles. Love this colour combo. But I had actually got this brush set to use with my inks. Love that they are all small in size so great for little detail pieces or giving that little extra. Shall see how that goes and keep you all updated. The 4 piece pen set is by Faber Castell. A brand I haven’t really used before. But intend to try them out. Plan on using them for out lining work and creating more depth in some pieces to. One thing I wish I got was the water brush pens that I saw. They where on sale and I shoulda grabbed them while there. Been wanting to play with them for ages and didn’t bother getting them. They are on my list of supplies to get next time.

I got this haul from Whsmith in the Bluewater Shopping Centre. That place is insanely large. Not a fan of the sheer scale of the place. Mainly due to the amount of people but glad we got there very early.

Have you guys got any art supplies I should get next? Please do recommend them. Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

Coloured Pencil Review and Green Heart Sketch.

Hello folks. It’s been a while since I did my last art tool review, so here is another one for ya. Hopefully this review will be useful to other artists, parents or beginners in the coloured pencil media.

Green Heart in coloured pencil.
Green Heart in coloured pencil.

This piece took a little longer than I had hoped but it was a great chance to play around with all my pencils. I used all of my green pencils in this one piece alone. (I haven’t got any new ones recently.) Doing this heart piece was a fab way of falling back in love with some and re-learning why I hated others. So lets get into the 3 brands that I used for this piece.

The Spectrum Sings Whsmith pencils

These are by far the oldest set of pencils that I own. Loved so much that I was given my sister’s set cause she no longer used them. They come in a pack of 48 and are avaible from Whsmith stores and their website at £9.99. A great little bargin and really good quality too. Building colour up with these is easy as is blending them together. I’ve had these since I was a highschooler and a set that I do go back to all the time. They give rich, bold colours when needed and are durable.

The Sudee Stile Pencils

Hmmm. The newest pencils I own and probally the only pencils I have some jip with. (Jip means issues just incase folk where confused!) I got the 120 set from amazon. But they no longer sell that set and now do either a 150 set at £46.99 or a 72 piece set at £19.99. Now that I have price out the way lets talk about them more in depth. Some of these colours are stunning. The blue green is gorgeous as is some of the reds, blues, and other shades. My main complaint about these pencils is that they don’t seem to have mixed all the colour in some of the pencils completely. I find it happens more in the lighter shades and I’ll get a huge line of a darker shade bleeding through. Which is annoying. Very annoying. But they do blend well together and work well with my other pencils. Plus the set has some colours that I don’t actually have in my others so that is a plus side.

The Staedtler Ergo Soft Pencils

I love these pencils. I’m gutted that I don’t have a bigger set of these beauties. I currently own the 24 set which I got from Whsmith at £15. (I think, I got these a few years ago and try not to use them for simple pieces.) If you know of a larger set please let me know!!! These are exactly what they say they are…..soft. I love using these for softer tones or when I need a gentler touch of colour. They are in a triangle shape which I find to be comfortable to handle but awkward to sharpen. Durable and the best quality of pencil that I own. They really are amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this post beauts.

Until next time my lovelies.

Life Lessons I’ve Learned Since Taking The Rose Coloured Glasses Off.

Okay. Time for a deep (ish) blog post. Life lessons and the one’s I learned the hard way. Or simply noticed as I got older and less inclined to listen to bullshit. Let me know which ones you knew or ones I may not mention in the comments. Its always good to learn more.

1. People and success. The mass majority of people in your life really don’t want you to succeed at all. They want you to do well but not better than them. And thats a scary thing to accept. It hit me when my mum would smug over the fact that I didn’t get tbe job I wanted or when I went through my times of unemployment.

2. The only person you can actually count on is yourself in this world. Too many people will expect something or some form of payment in return if they help you. And some peoplejust can not be counted on in the least.

3. Your gonna lose some people. Whether that’s cause people have moved away, grown apart or a little fight that has grown ugly. Sometimes it’s a good thing to leave people behind and others your gonna miss like crazy. But unfortunalety it happens. If you have people you want to keep in your life then keep them there.

4. The world will try to make you feel ashamed of your beliefs. Stick to your guns and you beliefs. Don’t let anyone change you or tell you how to act. We are all awesome and should be allowed to feel awesome.

5. Being an adult can suck. Like seriously can I go back to being a kid please? Try and keep those childish hobbies alive. You like pokemon?? Fantastic so do I. You like collecting stamps. That’s awesome. What about that secert love for dinosaurs? Don’t be afraid of sharing your passions and hobbies with others.

6. Last but not least. Learn how to love yourself. It will be the greatest thing you will ever do. I’m perfect for me and only me. I love my flaws and scars. My history aint pretty but it has made me how I am. I’ll be honest with you I used to hate myself. But now I love myself and who I am, from my tattooed ankles all the way to my button nose.

Really enjoyed writing this little ranty like post. Do you agree with any of these? Have you got any that you would like to share, let folk know in the comments.

Until next time my lovelies.

Why Failure Isn’t Always Failure.

Failure. Such a scary thing but it really ain’t when you look at it from a different point of view.

At young ages we are taught to be afraid of failure, to be ashamed of ourselves when we do fail. I used to think like that until I hit my early twenties. And things got a whole lot better after some major changes.

Failure isn’t failure. Shouldn’t really call it that should I?? How about we call it a chance. A chance is something that we do as a risk. We aren’t 100% sure if that risk we take will work out or not. Heck it might be a complete and utter disaster. It might be the best damn thing you will ever do.

It’s where we learn what works and what doesn’t work. And that is a valuable thing to have because it changes our mindset about taking risks or chances. Thinking of it as a lesson – as in what can I learn from it, I’ll give it a try or let’s see if this method works – these mindsets take the fear away from failing and instead create a mindset of excitment, learning and progression.

In some cases things do fail or just aren’t working at the time, those cases could be a project or issue that we have been sitting and staring at for far too long. Those times it’s okay to take a step back for a few days and come back to it with fresh eyes.

Failure if treated like a lesson can open up so many doors. A lesson I had learned from a failure was that I really am better at hand sewing than machine sewing. After several attempts at the machine, 2 meters of ruined fabric and a few hours later I left my project for a few days. I came back later on and tried hand sewing. While it took alot longer, and I had to learn 3 – 4 different stitch types, I had finish my project and the result was amazing. It was my first large scale project with so many things going on at once.

I hope this post helps any of you. If you have a lesson or something you learned for a ‘failure’ please share it in the comments. I’d love to read others experience’s.

Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

The Problem With Working Nightshift.

Currently I’ve been up since 9.30 from last night. Rossco finally hit the hay after being awake for 30 hours cause he couldn’t settle. The drama of being on the nightshift and being in such a routine.

On days off we rarely do things……sometimes. Our ‘weekend’ consists of sleeping, catching up on chores, and being lazy. The lazy part because neither of us have the energy to do anything. Which is damn sad. We never really see friends either. Everyone is on a more normal shift pattern, like a 9 – 5pm. So seeing people can be very hard and difficult but we always meet up in the end.

Shopping!!! That is a damn nightmare too. By the time we wake up after being awake all the wee hours of the morning things are either closing or we have to rush which we both hate. Even getting our bodies into a simiple routine. On our weekend we can sometimes slip into a day shift routine so come our next nightshift, we are exhausted half way through the shift.

Doing chores at night can also be a challenge. Our neighbours are all dayshift people. So we cann’t hoover at times which can get super annoying. (Mainly after the boys playtime which leaves a million poos afterwards!!) But we eventally get em done at a reasonable time. Our neighbours are a lovely bunch, just a damn shame they all want to move!

It can be a strange feeling getting up later on the day when it is dark. Your brain doesn’t always register that it’s in nightshift mode or dayshift. Plus the days merge together so much it can be hard to remember which day your on.
