Saving For The Future. (Mini Personal Achievement!)

Hello my lovelies. How have you guys been this crazy week? Its went by really fast for me. One day it was the end of the weekend, now it’s my weekend again. This is gonna be a some what chatty post today.

Welp lets jump right into it before I squeal with excitment. (Before I go any futher, Im not bragging in the slightest kay.) This year me and the other half made the agreement that we are going to save for our own house. We are currently renting and lets be honest, while the area is nice its not a place we want to be long term. Or if we plan on expanding our family.

So I have had problems with saving for years. (Money grabbing parents who where not ready for 3 extra mouths to feed and guilt tripped the cash outta us.) But I finally did something I wanted to do for ages. Since I was 18. Drum roll please…………

I FINALLY SAVED £1000!!!!!!

Eeek. After months of on/off work. Being worried sick and feeling completely useless I finally reached a milestone that I had wanted for just under 8 years. And it feels amazing. 😄

I may be a little tighter fisted with my cash now, and even questioning if I need things when I’m shopping or out and about. We are even home cooking meals for work which is amazing for the both of us. I’m just so happy and proud of myself. Very pleased to see that all the hard work that I’m putting in is finally amounting to something.

And I wanted to share this excitment with you guys.

Until next time my lovelies.

Art Supply Haul! (Small One!)

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing today. The weather where I’m at doesn’t know if it wants to be sunny, rain or snow. That is British weather for ya.

Welcome to a small ish art supply art. (I shoulda got those water brush pens!!) So might as well jump in with what I’m excited to use the most.

Winsor & Newton Ink Collection

I’m rather new to using Ink in my art works and had used it once or twice during the Inktober season for 2017. The inks are from Winsor & Newton a brand that I do love using. The water colour and acrylic paints they do are amazing. I’ll be taking part again this year too. I got these from Whsmith and nabbed the colours Purple, Orange and Gold. (The Gold was almost sold out!!) I love the cute little bottles they are in and still trying to decide how to use them. May use the gold for details and will defo be grabbing the white ink next time.

These are gonna be used for my wisp series that I’m slowly working on. Also going to be expertimenting with them to build up an understanding of them so I know how to get the best out of them. Can’t wait to build up more of a collection of these little cuties. They are just to adorable.

More supplies. Pens and Paint brushes.

The brushes are from Winsor & Newton with the cold blue handles. Love this colour combo. But I had actually got this brush set to use with my inks. Love that they are all small in size so great for little detail pieces or giving that little extra. Shall see how that goes and keep you all updated. The 4 piece pen set is by Faber Castell. A brand I haven’t really used before. But intend to try them out. Plan on using them for out lining work and creating more depth in some pieces to. One thing I wish I got was the water brush pens that I saw. They where on sale and I shoulda grabbed them while there. Been wanting to play with them for ages and didn’t bother getting them. They are on my list of supplies to get next time.

I got this haul from Whsmith in the Bluewater Shopping Centre. That place is insanely large. Not a fan of the sheer scale of the place. Mainly due to the amount of people but glad we got there very early.

Have you guys got any art supplies I should get next? Please do recommend them. Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

Coloured Pencil Review and Green Heart Sketch.

Hello folks. It’s been a while since I did my last art tool review, so here is another one for ya. Hopefully this review will be useful to other artists, parents or beginners in the coloured pencil media.

Green Heart in coloured pencil.
Green Heart in coloured pencil.

This piece took a little longer than I had hoped but it was a great chance to play around with all my pencils. I used all of my green pencils in this one piece alone. (I haven’t got any new ones recently.) Doing this heart piece was a fab way of falling back in love with some and re-learning why I hated others. So lets get into the 3 brands that I used for this piece.

The Spectrum Sings Whsmith pencils

These are by far the oldest set of pencils that I own. Loved so much that I was given my sister’s set cause she no longer used them. They come in a pack of 48 and are avaible from Whsmith stores and their website at £9.99. A great little bargin and really good quality too. Building colour up with these is easy as is blending them together. I’ve had these since I was a highschooler and a set that I do go back to all the time. They give rich, bold colours when needed and are durable.

The Sudee Stile Pencils

Hmmm. The newest pencils I own and probally the only pencils I have some jip with. (Jip means issues just incase folk where confused!) I got the 120 set from amazon. But they no longer sell that set and now do either a 150 set at £46.99 or a 72 piece set at £19.99. Now that I have price out the way lets talk about them more in depth. Some of these colours are stunning. The blue green is gorgeous as is some of the reds, blues, and other shades. My main complaint about these pencils is that they don’t seem to have mixed all the colour in some of the pencils completely. I find it happens more in the lighter shades and I’ll get a huge line of a darker shade bleeding through. Which is annoying. Very annoying. But they do blend well together and work well with my other pencils. Plus the set has some colours that I don’t actually have in my others so that is a plus side.

The Staedtler Ergo Soft Pencils

I love these pencils. I’m gutted that I don’t have a bigger set of these beauties. I currently own the 24 set which I got from Whsmith at £15. (I think, I got these a few years ago and try not to use them for simple pieces.) If you know of a larger set please let me know!!! These are exactly what they say they are…..soft. I love using these for softer tones or when I need a gentler touch of colour. They are in a triangle shape which I find to be comfortable to handle but awkward to sharpen. Durable and the best quality of pencil that I own. They really are amazing.

I hope you enjoyed this post beauts.

Until next time my lovelies.

Life Lessons I’ve Learned Since Taking The Rose Coloured Glasses Off.

Okay. Time for a deep (ish) blog post. Life lessons and the one’s I learned the hard way. Or simply noticed as I got older and less inclined to listen to bullshit. Let me know which ones you knew or ones I may not mention in the comments. Its always good to learn more.

1. People and success. The mass majority of people in your life really don’t want you to succeed at all. They want you to do well but not better than them. And thats a scary thing to accept. It hit me when my mum would smug over the fact that I didn’t get tbe job I wanted or when I went through my times of unemployment.

2. The only person you can actually count on is yourself in this world. Too many people will expect something or some form of payment in return if they help you. And some peoplejust can not be counted on in the least.

3. Your gonna lose some people. Whether that’s cause people have moved away, grown apart or a little fight that has grown ugly. Sometimes it’s a good thing to leave people behind and others your gonna miss like crazy. But unfortunalety it happens. If you have people you want to keep in your life then keep them there.

4. The world will try to make you feel ashamed of your beliefs. Stick to your guns and you beliefs. Don’t let anyone change you or tell you how to act. We are all awesome and should be allowed to feel awesome.

5. Being an adult can suck. Like seriously can I go back to being a kid please? Try and keep those childish hobbies alive. You like pokemon?? Fantastic so do I. You like collecting stamps. That’s awesome. What about that secert love for dinosaurs? Don’t be afraid of sharing your passions and hobbies with others.

6. Last but not least. Learn how to love yourself. It will be the greatest thing you will ever do. I’m perfect for me and only me. I love my flaws and scars. My history aint pretty but it has made me how I am. I’ll be honest with you I used to hate myself. But now I love myself and who I am, from my tattooed ankles all the way to my button nose.

Really enjoyed writing this little ranty like post. Do you agree with any of these? Have you got any that you would like to share, let folk know in the comments.

Until next time my lovelies.

Why Failure Isn’t Always Failure.

Failure. Such a scary thing but it really ain’t when you look at it from a different point of view.

At young ages we are taught to be afraid of failure, to be ashamed of ourselves when we do fail. I used to think like that until I hit my early twenties. And things got a whole lot better after some major changes.

Failure isn’t failure. Shouldn’t really call it that should I?? How about we call it a chance. A chance is something that we do as a risk. We aren’t 100% sure if that risk we take will work out or not. Heck it might be a complete and utter disaster. It might be the best damn thing you will ever do.

It’s where we learn what works and what doesn’t work. And that is a valuable thing to have because it changes our mindset about taking risks or chances. Thinking of it as a lesson – as in what can I learn from it, I’ll give it a try or let’s see if this method works – these mindsets take the fear away from failing and instead create a mindset of excitment, learning and progression.

In some cases things do fail or just aren’t working at the time, those cases could be a project or issue that we have been sitting and staring at for far too long. Those times it’s okay to take a step back for a few days and come back to it with fresh eyes.

Failure if treated like a lesson can open up so many doors. A lesson I had learned from a failure was that I really am better at hand sewing than machine sewing. After several attempts at the machine, 2 meters of ruined fabric and a few hours later I left my project for a few days. I came back later on and tried hand sewing. While it took alot longer, and I had to learn 3 – 4 different stitch types, I had finish my project and the result was amazing. It was my first large scale project with so many things going on at once.

I hope this post helps any of you. If you have a lesson or something you learned for a ‘failure’ please share it in the comments. I’d love to read others experience’s.

Until next time my lovelies. Xxx

The Problem With Working Nightshift.

Currently I’ve been up since 9.30 from last night. Rossco finally hit the hay after being awake for 30 hours cause he couldn’t settle. The drama of being on the nightshift and being in such a routine.

On days off we rarely do things……sometimes. Our ‘weekend’ consists of sleeping, catching up on chores, and being lazy. The lazy part because neither of us have the energy to do anything. Which is damn sad. We never really see friends either. Everyone is on a more normal shift pattern, like a 9 – 5pm. So seeing people can be very hard and difficult but we always meet up in the end.

Shopping!!! That is a damn nightmare too. By the time we wake up after being awake all the wee hours of the morning things are either closing or we have to rush which we both hate. Even getting our bodies into a simiple routine. On our weekend we can sometimes slip into a day shift routine so come our next nightshift, we are exhausted half way through the shift.

Doing chores at night can also be a challenge. Our neighbours are all dayshift people. So we cann’t hoover at times which can get super annoying. (Mainly after the boys playtime which leaves a million poos afterwards!!) But we eventally get em done at a reasonable time. Our neighbours are a lovely bunch, just a damn shame they all want to move!

It can be a strange feeling getting up later on the day when it is dark. Your brain doesn’t always register that it’s in nightshift mode or dayshift. Plus the days merge together so much it can be hard to remember which day your on.

Plans and Building in 2018!

Hello my lovelies. How are you all? 2018 is just round the corner and I thought this would once again be a great time to share some plans that I hope to get on the ball in 2018.

Languages. I’ve always wanted to learn a new language for such a long time and in 2018 I’m so determined to do just that. My place of work has so many languages going on and I love the sound of all of them!!

Swimming. Ross and I plan on going swimming 3 times a week to help with our health. He wants to get healthier and so do I. My breathing has been a damn nightmare and needs sorting. We also plan on being better with our food too!!

Planning, goal setting and journaling. These are personal little goals that I need to work on and keep them going strong. I’ve loved goal setting so far this year. I just need to get my head round the journaling thing. (Everyone else’s journals are so pretty and detailed. Mine is just super plain and boring.)

My cute little shop will be worked on a great deal in 2018. I’ve wanted this for years and now that I have it I intend on making it work. Many new ideas are in the works, with some super cuties in development. (Keep an eye on my insta for sneak peaks!) Buisiness cards will be created too and if things go well, a whole website may be in the works. I don’t want to give too much away yet but all I can say is too much cuteness!!

My plan on being more active on social medias for 2018, this way I can help provide a brilliant level of customer service and people can ask questions. A social media page will be made for the shop too. I’m getting excited that’s for sure!!

Youtube. That was going well but with the lack of a decent camera and editing tools it will take a while to do well. But I don’t plan on giving up on it!!

My blog is going strong and I defo plan on keeping this going. Some updates are needed and maybe a revamp too. Lets see what happens.

So far 2018 looks like it is going to be an amazing year, with saving for a house and hoping to drive next year it looks like an adventure. And I can not wait to see how things turn out. And I hope that you, my lovely readers will continue to support my blog well into 2018.

What are your plans for next year??

Until next time my lovelies. Xx

MUR Lip Kits Haul and Review.

Hello my lovelies!! This is a little haul I got  awhile back and thought I should share it now with you all. But first, how was everyone’s Christmas? I hope however you spent the day that you enjoyed it all the same. (My partner is ruining the flat with his damn drone. I should never have got him it!! 😂😅)

Now onto the haul. Its a lip kit haul from MUR or Makeup Revolution to be exact. All of these where bought from Superdrug for £8 each. (I got a 2 for 3 deal and wanted a treat!) So lets get started shall we:

The haul.
There are 7 lip kits here and I’ll talk about them all. (Ish, I have a little negative feedback on one but it happens.) Lets start with my favourite one first.

Regent the metallic lip kit.

How stunning is this red! The best thing is that it’s metallic as well. Very pretty shade and love that it doesn’t make me look washed out. The lip pencil is lush as well and can be worn for a much softer everyday kinda look. The metallic packiging is cute too, and great for telling the difference. Lol.

Next onto a not so favourite.

The Holographic Lip Kit

The sparkly one on my hand that you can barely see is the holographic lipkit in Unicorn Dream. And it was a kind of disappointment. The purple lip liner and the spark liquid lip stick are not a nice combo. And that’s just my personal opinion. I’m happy to wear em individually but defo not together. Which is a damn shame.

Vampire Night’s!
It was the name on this one that got me if I’m honest. And it is a lovely one as well. A matte lip kit for a matte loving gal. In the pic it was just applied so it still looks wet, but now it’s dried into a deep wine red colour that’s great for that vamp look. Or dark lip lovers out there. Royal and Majesty are both matte lip kits also with stunning colours between them. (Sorry no pics at the mo but will be in my next monthly lipstick library!)

A little Integrity.
While I’m not a major fan of gloss finishes this colour is beautiful. A lovely blend of pink and purple. Fabulous. More than likely wear the lip pencil on it’s own but I’m happy to give this one a try.

Empire’s don’t build themselves.
This copper shade is Empire and yet another metallic liquid lipstick. Just one of the very few copper shades that I own. It’s a second favourite even though it dries more gloss than matte. The colour won this one over that’s for sure, plus it’s great to play around with.

Hope you enjoyed this little haul folks. Until next time my lovelies.

Patchwork Animal Plushies

Hello my lovelies. How are you all doing on this rather wet looking day? I’ve been great, from working alot on nightshift and making time for crafty adventures.

I really want to show you 2 of my latest pieces I’ve recently made. So here they are, my patchwork animals:

My Patchwork Piggy

This one turned out really well! The felt is from the Dovecraft Essentials in pink. You can you colour theme packs from the Works for £2!! I got loads of different colours. The fabric was from a subrciption box that I used to get. I’m so happy with how this turned out although it got rather annoying with the measurements and then the stuffing part. I didn’t want to over stuff this little one. I love the nose and my blanket stiches here.

My Patchwork Robin

This little guy is a little wonky. I had wanted him to be more circle in shape but it’s either the way I’ve sewn him or stuffed him. The beak is also my first attempt at statin stich on felt!!! While not perfect it went really well. I think I’ll stick to the size of my piggy though as it seems more reasonable in size. But I’m still proud of how the robin turned out.

I have loads more ideas for the Patchwork Animals so keep an eye on the shop. May even make some cute fruit and other bits too. Super enjoying the sewing time and the creative side. Also nice to see some of my fabrics getting used!!

Any advice or recommendations are highly welcome for getting better.

Until next time folks. Xx

Being Up North

It’s a strange feeling right now. I have the other half asleep in my lap, while our friends are trying to be quiet outside. (It really isn’t working! 😅) We aren’t home, in our flat or have the boys with us but it feels so comforting being surronded by friends. Even though some are settling down for the night (an early start in the morning) and others are recovering from a heavy night.

It feels nice. While not home, the feeling of that being in the right place takes hold. Could be cause the other half is snoring away!! Could be the fact I have my sewing and drawing book with me, or it may have something to do with being round people we haven’t seen in awhile. The people we are visiting are Ross’s friends but they always make me feel welcome in their group. We wanted to see everyone before the festive period got into full swing.

The feeling of being north though. That is surreal. It’s only been 5-6 months and things are slowly changing. The feeling of driving up that old road that we ain’t seen for a while or actually seeing people in the flesh and not over some computer screen. It tugs a little at the heart strings.

But we both want to continue on this crazy journey that we are on. Even though we feel lonely and are missing out on things. We are heading back home in a couple of days but the north will always be our home. Our real home.
